Visibility into Distribution and Maintaining Your Wine’s Reputation
Most wine aficionados will tell you that storing wine at proper temperature is critical for maintaining its quality and ultimate taste. Wine makers will take the utmost care to ensure that their wines are stored at optimal temperatures at their wineries. But what happens to wine when it is out of the winemaker’s control? Will proper temperatures be maintained through distribution to retail locations and consumers? And most importantly, is that California wine rated 90 points going to taste the same when it reaches the retail self on the east coast?

Many winemakers realize that mainstream distribution is the weak link. To fix this weak link, winemakers are using PakSense Labels to get an accurate picture of what their product experiences during shipping. A PakSense Label is placed within a case of wine with a self-addressed return envelope enclosed.  When the wine reaches the retail location, receiving staff simply mail back the PakSense Label in the envelope. When the winemaker receives the label, the temperature data is downloaded and a complete and accurate picture of the temperatures their product experienced during shipping is displayed. This helps winemakers pinpoint if, when and for how long temperature abuse occurred. PakSense Labels provide visibility into what happens to their product when it is out of their control and arms them with information to help determine if changes in distribution methods are warranted.
