|April 29, 2009 - Ultra Wireless Label Named Best New Product for Food Safety at United Fresh|
BOISE, Idaho—(April 29, 2009)—PakSense, Inc., an innovator in sensory solutions for packaging, announced today its Ultra Wireless temperature monitoring label was named Best New Product in the food safety tool or service category at the recent United Fresh 2009 conference. Show attendees cast their votes for the best new product awards at the convention, which was held this year at the Sands MegaCenter in Las Vegas. The PakSense Ultra Wireless Label competed with four other finalists in the food safety category and was named the winner on the final day of the show.
“We are honored to be recognized by our peers as bringing truly innovative products to the grocery industry,” said David Light, CEO at PakSense.
PakSense Ultra Wireless Labels enable users to wirelessly download time and temperature information and assess product quality before unloading a perishable product from a truck or other container. Labels are activated and applied to product or product packaging prior to shipping. At any point during distribution, the PakSense Ultra Wireless Reader can collect data from labels within a 300 foot line of sight range or approximately 60 foot obstructed range. Time and temperature data can then be examined on the screen of the Ultra Wireless Reader immediately after download, which improves reaction times and helps users make quick decisions on product quality. Detailed information from the reader, including temperature alert notifications, can then be downloaded to a PC for emailing and permanent storage.
This is the most recent industry accolade received by PakSense. Over the past year, the company was honored for export achievements by the U.S. Department of Commerce, named an innovation award finalist during the Horti Fair conference in Amsterdam, and featured as a top 100 technology provider to grocery and food service distributors by the editors of Food Logistics magazine.
